There is a wealth of physical and mental benefits related to Garden Design.

A garden can provide you with a way to escape the stress and strains of everyday life.

It should be a place for relaxation, a space to think, an opportunity to read; it can provide a place to gain inspiration, immerse yourself in nature and to restore the soul.

Relaxation can result in the lowering of blood pressure and reduction in levels of adrenalin and cortisol. These hormones cause stress and it is well documented that when levels of cortisol are elevated for sustained periods, significant damage to the body can occur. In addition, the physical activities related to gardening (e.g. digging) reduce stress and have an aerobic effect.....you won't need to go to the gym!

Finally, if you opt for a garden incorporating vegetable beds, you can grow and enjoy your own fruit and vegetables. There's something very therapeutic about this.
